Scientists have identified that some traditional drug treatments use around 70
species and 700 genus medical plants that grow in Mongolia. These plants include
biological active ingredients that can treat diseases. As a result of their research 11,000
formulas have been identified that are used by Mongolian traditional healers. Some 200
essential formulas are in use that utilize components of plant, animal, minerals and other
raw materials. These formulas are based on components from around 360 medical plants
both leaves and roots, and 100 raw materials that prepared from animals and 100 raw
materials that prepared from minerals. Of these 150 medical plants are included into the
list of international pharmacopoeia and 17 geniuses medical plants.
